SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. —
Vermont State Police have identified the person of interest in an incident that took place during the protest on March 11th in South Burlington.
24-year old [NAME] of Burlington has been cited and faces charges of aggravated disorderly conduct and simple assault after he’s been accused of smashing the window of the VSP van and injuring one of the troopers inside the vehicle. Damage to the van was estimated at $500
VSP received multiple tips from the public and identified [NAME] as the individual. [NAME] is due to appear for arraignment July 28 in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Burlington.
Police said that the person of interest smashed the van’s rear window as it was preparing to leave the scene of the protest, which erupted during a federal immigration enforcement operation on Dorset Street.
VSP said there were multiple troopers inside the van with the vehicle’s emergency lights activated. One trooper suffered an eye injury from the broken glass.
